FreeBSD Developer Summit, March 2023
This page describes the March 2023 FreeBSD Developer Summit, colocated with AsiaBSDCon 2023, which takes place in Tokyo, Japan. This is a by-invitation event. FreeBSD committers will be welcome to register themselves using this wiki; non-committers must be sponsored by a committer to attend. Attendees must also attend AsiaBSDCon 2023 in order to access all devsummit activities.

Health & Safety
COVID-19 has not been over yet. For the safety of all attendees, this developer summit asks for your understanding that everyone must wear a mask at the venue all the time and follow social-distancing protocols whenever possible. The details about actions that must be taken by individual attendees will be notified by the AsiaBSDCon organizers. While the measures may cause some inconvenience in the devsummit, the priority is the safety of all the attendees, including you. If you feel sick during your stay, keep staying indoors and contact the AsiaBSDCon organizers.
Travel
As of December 2022, entering Japan requires COVID-19 vaccination certificate (3 doses) or a certificate of negative test result for all cross-border travelers. No quarantine measure is implemented. Visit Visit Japan Web to enter your information.
Regarding visa requirements, visit Visa Application Procedures and List of Regions for Visa Exemptions. If you need documents for your visa application, contact secretary@asiabsdcon.org.
- There are two airports around Tokyo, Haneda (HND) and Narita (NRT). While HND has better access to the central Tokyo area, in both cases, it will be about a 60-min train trip to the conference venue. Taxi from the airports is too expensive, so take a train. Details about the access can be found on the AsiaBSDCon website.
Streaming
Live streaming will be available. Access information will be updated just before the conference days.

Schedule
- The FreeBSD developer summit takes place on the 30th and 31st of March 2023 on the same days as the AsiaBSDCon tutorials.
- Many developers will arrive on the night of the 29th and meet for dinner and drinks before things kick off.
- Most developers will stay on through AsiaBSDCon to give and attend talks. It is an excellent conference--a good FreeBSD developer showing has countless benefits, not least the opportunity to tell the world what we're doing.

Short Talks / Sessions
Please add your talk topics for the first day. The second day is a hackathon, but introductory talks for problems and issues people want to work on, they can also be held in the morning of the second day. Please test whether your laptop works with the projector early. For a two-monitor setup, you can try the mons port.

- In order to attend, you must register in advance; this allows us to size rooms, order food, and provide beverages. We appreciate your cooperation in letting us know your plans well in advance of the event.
- Non-committers must be sponsored by a committer in order to attend. Due to increased attendance in recent years, companies are limited to one non-committer unless permission is explicitly granted by the organizers.
Developer Attendees
