Logistics

Leave the car at the hotel and come by public transport.

The closest station is S+U Friedrichstraße, a big local transport hub connecting local railway lines S1, S2, S25, S26, S3, S5, S7, and S9, unterground line U6, regional railway lines RE1, RE2, RE7, RE8, and RB23, tram lines M1 and 12, and bus lines 147 and 245. Taxis are available on the north exit of the station. Use Android application “Öffi,” “Jelbi,” or “DB Navigator” for public transport routing. Trains run from ~4 AM to ~1 AM every 5–10 minutes. Trains run at night Fri to Sun, otherwise use night bus and tram lines. Make sure to validate your tickets before boarding the train by sticking them into the validation machines on busses, trams, and train platforms.

You'll need a public transport ticket that includes fare zone A; an AB zone day pass is €10.60 and can be bought on all platforms as well as in the Jelbi and DB Navigator apps. This ticket is valid in all busses, trams, local trains, regional trains, and ferries. It is not valid in long-distance trains (designation IC or ICE). There are no fare gates; tickets are checked by random spot checks.

To walk to CCCB from Friedrichstraße station, climb up to the east-west (Stadtbahn) S-Bahn platform and leave through the West exit across the river. Enter Albrechtstraße, then take the first left into Marienstraße. CCCB is on the left side. This route involves climbing various stairs. Disabled visitors may want to take U6 to U Oranienburger Tor or bus 245 or 147 to Deutsches Theater and walk from there. It is also possible to walk from S+U Friedrichstraße: cross Weidendammer Brücke bridge and turn to the left onto Schiffbauerdamm.

Long-distance trains go to Berlin Hbf (main station), from which you can take any eastbound S-Bahn from platform 15 for one stop to get to S+U Friedrichstraße. When booking a train with DB, you can book directly to Friedrichstraße station, which will have your itinerary include this last leg at usually no extra cost.

If you come by airplane, take local railway line S9 or regional railway lines RE8 or RB23 from the airport directly to Friedrichstraße station. The regional lines are faster but come less frequently. The airport is in fare zone C; you'll need an ABC zone pass for the full ride. There is a very high probability of your ticket being checked as you leave the airport, so make sure you buy one before you board the train.

If you must come by car, park directly in Marienstraße. You'll need to buy a parking ticket from a vending machine for the duration you are parking there.
