Topics
Here are some ideas that people could work on during the Hackathon. It's good to know what to work on to get started right away. We're probably doing some kind of check-in at the beginning to see what individuals want to work on. It's OK to not have something right away. Maybe you can team up with someone working on something with a common interest.
- work through the PR database (both low-hanging fruits and longer work items)
- go through the list of reviews and see if there is one that has been approved, but not committed yet. Or find one that needs some feedback and move it closer towards the finish line (whatever that may be)
- Write a test, we can never have enough coverage
- Adopt an orphaned port, update an existing one, or create a completely new port altogether
- Read and update the documentation (typos, grammos, spelling)
- pf metrics
- audit IDs for things started by rc(8) / service(8)
- sleep support on modern CPUs (for example s0ix states). A Framework Laptop 16 will be made available for the duration of the hackathon.
When making changes, use the "Event: Oslo Hackathon 2025" line in your commit message.
Sessions
Sessions are intended for everyone to discuss a specific topic of interest. People are allowed to just listen, but the goal of the session is to both get something out of it and provide something of your own for the group of attendees.

Logistics
Venue
entersekt (formerly Modirum) have kindly offered to host us in their office in central Oslo Oslo located at Pløens Gate 4.
Getting from Oslo Airport Gardemoen to Oslo Central Station (Oslo S)
- Region trains depart from track 4 (RE10 Drammen, RE11 Skien, and R12 Kongsberg). You man purchase tickets in Ruter app, at a ticketing machine at the airport, or on board. If purchasing ticket on board, please remember to go to a carriage which does not require pre-validated ticket. Travel time is 23 minutes.
- Airport Express Train: FLY1 and FLY2 depart from track 3. It's easiest to purchase ticket as you go through the gate to the track by tapping your payment card, but there's also an app (Flytoget) if you prefer. Travel time for FLY1 is 22 minutes, and travel time for FLY2 is 19 minutes.
Travelling in Oslo
Use the Ruter (by Ruter AS) app to manage ticket and plan trips. All of Oslo city/county is Zone 1, and the ticket covers travel by train/tram/metro/bus/ferry in Oslo. Additional zones can be purchased for destinations outside of Oslo, more info on Ruter's website (https://ruter.no/en/about-our-tickets/tourist-ticket) - includes a tourist-oriented transit map!
Alternatively, Visit Oslo has a "Oslo Pass" which works as travel pass in Oslo and surrounding areas, including to/from airport with the RE10, RE11, RE12 trains. It also includes access to museums and other touristy things. More info on their website: https://www.visitoslo.com/en/aktiviteter-og-attraksjoner/oslo-pass/
