Thursday (2026-09-03)

Trip to the Technikmuseum Berlin with a tour through their collection of early computers for early arrivals. Please tick the “sightseeing” in the participant list so I can book a suitably sized tour. A week before the event organiser (fuz) will contact all participants who have shown interest in the trip and find a time for the tour.

Friday (2026-09-04)

1100 Event location opens.
1200 Opening ceremony with an introduction by our hosts
1300 Lunch around 1300.
2000 Joint dinner? BBQ?
2200 Closing for the day (estimated)

Saturday (2026-09-05)

Hacking 1100–2200
Lunch around 1300.

Logistics

Venue

The hackathon will take place at the computer science campus of Free University Berlin, Takustraße 9, 14195 Berlin Room 46, 49 and 51. The complex can be entered from its entrances at Takustraße, Arnimallee, and Altensteinstraße (preferred entry for cars). One or two rooms with desks, chairs, and a projector will be provided. There will be WLAN, wird networking, and a buffet with snacks, cold beverages, and coffee.

Getting there

Public transport is recommended, though some on-site parking is available.

The closest stops are:

• U Dahlem Dorf (subway line U3)
• Arnimallee (bus line X83)
• Hans-Söhnker-Platz (bus lines X83, 101)
• S+U Rathaus Steglitz (subway line U9, commuter rail line S1) → take bus X83 to Arnimallee

Passengers coming by long-distance rail can book directly to S+U Rathaus Steglitz. If that is not possible, the following stations may be helpful:

• Berlin Südkreuz (take train S26 to S Lankwitz, then bus X83 to Arnimallee)
• Berlin Friedrichstraße (take train S1 to Rathaus Steglitz, then bus X83 to Arnimallee)
• Berlin Zoologischer Garten (take subway U9 to Rathaus Steglitz, then bus X83 to Arnimallee)
• Berlin Hauptbahnhof (take S3/S5/S7/S9 to Zoologischer Garten, then proceed from there)
• Berlin Lichtenberg (take S3/S5/S7/S9 to Zoologischer Garten, then proceed from there)

The closest airport is BER (Berlin Brandenburg International) with many international flights available. Buy a zone BC single fare ticket and take train FEX (airport express) or RE20 to Südkreuz, then proceed from there.

Getting to EuroBSDcon

It is possible to continue to Brussels after the hackathon for EuroBSDcon by train or airplane.

Trains go once an hour from Berlin main station with a change in Cologne. The full trip is around 7 hours. Book tickets on the website of Deutsche Bahn. If you book early, tickets start around €57. You can book directly from S+U Rathaus Steglitz, the train station closest to our venue (or any other train station in Berlin). This is advantageous in case there is a problem on a local train before you board your long distance train.
