A common question about pkgng is "what is the state of the packages it creates, as compared to the current default technology?" This page will try to answer that question.
The difficulties in doing direct comparisons are the following:
pkgng packages are currently being created on pointyhat-west. The codebase there is stricter than that on pointyhat prime, so some packages fail due to that alone. The reason for other failures on -west is not yet understood.
There is a drift in time between when packages are built on one vs. the other. Some packages may be freshly broken on whatever is the latest of the two; some may have been fixed since the previous run; others may have been marked broken and are thus no longer built. Also, new ports are being added constantly.
- Finally, some of these may be in-progress builds.
With those caveats, here are the raw comparisons of the most recent errors. (Click on the headings to see statistics about successfully-built packages).
