locate

locate (called mlocate on some Linux distros) is installed by default as part of every base install.

On a freshly-installed system, locate will not return results until its database is primed. Run this command to rebuild the locate database immediately:

sudo /etc/periodic/weekly/310.locate

You can configure the system to update this database periodically:

sysrc weekly_locate_enable="YES"
