CAM Scheduling & Locking Revamp

Organizer: JustinGibbs <gibbs@FreeBSDFoundation.org>

Abstract:

The I/O scheduling system in CAM was devised before the advent of SMP and when total system memory measured in megabytes, not gigabytes. This design gives optimal resource fairness across devices at the expense of complexity and lock contention. This working group will focus on changing the CAM I/O model to simplify its scheduler and to optimize operations so they can run with minimal cross-CPU core synchronization.
