FreeBSD Google Summer of Code
Google Summer of Code or GSoC is an annual event sponsored by Google, Inc. It enables students to spend their summer contributing to open source software projects and FreeBSD has participated every year since 2005. Students can apply to FreeBSD to work on a project of their choosing and, if selected, they work from home full-time for 12 weeks with the aid of a FreeBSD mentor, helping the open source community improve its software. The goal is to promote software engineering among university students.
